This artwork speaks of the untruth claimed by the Western narrative to justify the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003 & the state sponsored repression which have shaped and reshaped the country; for “Oil”.

Possession of WMDs was cited by the US as the primary motivation instigating the War in Iraq, which was later reported by the US to be a “mistake”.

The artwork “Mess-take” is domesticated by symbols of war & greed against indigenous symbols of the land: flowers, fruit, rivers of Tigris & Euphrates, Ishtar gate, palm trees. The landscape represents the land as a chess board where games of war were played by Western powers, and the stitching on the canvas intends to seam and repair the land torn apart by war.

يتمحور هذا العمل حول كذبة السرد الغربي لتبرير الغزو الذي قادته الولايات المتحدة في العراق عام 2003 الذي شكل وأعاد تشكيل البلد.

ادعت الولايات المتحدة  أن حيازة أسلحة الدمار الشامل على أنها الدافع الأساسي للتحريض على الحرب في العراق ، والتي تم الإبلاغ عنها لاحقًا من قبل مجلس الشيوخ الأمريكي بأنها "خطأ".

يمتلئ العمل الفني "Mess-take" برموز الحرب والجشع ضد رموز الأرض الأصيله: الزهور والفواكه و النحل وأنهار دجلة والفرات وبوابة عشتار. و يمثل العمل الأرض كلوحة شطرنج حيث لعبت القوى الغربية ألعاب الحرب ، و تحاول خياطة التضاريس إصلاح و لصق الأرض الممزقة.

تقولون إنكم تغزون أراضينا وتقتلون شعبنا وتحرقون أشجارنا وتجففون أنهارنا من أجل جلب "السلام والديمقراطية والحرية". ونحن نقول إننا لسنا بحاجة إلى قيمكم الغربية، ولم نرغب فيها قط، ولم نطلبها قط.
